Almost every time we try and snag a table at Cafe Minerva, an Italian leaning coffee shop and eatery on a quiet stretch of W. 4th, it's almost always a failure. The smallish European cafe is a big hit with locals and those who love sitting in the window all afternoon sipping lattes and reading the NY Times. We were finally in luck last night as there was a table for two just ready and waiting for us. So was the food here as good as the always-packed status would suggest? Almost. We tried the farro salad and the tagliatelle bolognese (pictured above) and of the two found the latter to be a satisfying rendition of the classic comfort food dish. The meaty sauce was tangy and savory and the homemade pasta noodles were perfectly cooked. Cafe Minerva is located at 302 W. 4th Street.
