Bar Marmont's Oyster Nights + Dinner With Le Pigeon's Gabriel Rucker

Carolynn Spence is having a bit of fun at the Chateau Marmont these days. On Monday nights, she's offering oysters at cost, for a little early-in-the-week indulgence at Bar Marmont, which means you won't pay more than $1.50 for Beau Soleils, Malpeques and Kumamotos from both coasts, plus shrimp cocktail for 50 cents. Add in some nice crisp wine or bubbles for less than $10 a glass and you've got yourself a night.

And something to put on the calendar: After playing host chef for some of the Frenchies in town for Le Fooding a few weeks ago, Spence has good friend Gabriel Rucker from Portland's Le Pigeon in town for a special guest dinner. She told us that she and Rucker, who kind of turned Portland's food scene on its head and who just won a James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Northwest, will hit the farmer's market, Cheese Shop of Beverly Hills and Lindy & Grundy for inspiration and then create their three-course menu (plus amuse-bouche and maybe some grappa) for the night.
