What You'll Be Eating at Fishing With Dynamite, Opening Tonight

Manhattan Beach gets its new oyster bar tonight when David LeFevre's Fishing With Dynamite debuts for dinner. The place might be small - only 36 seats, including those at the raw-bar counter - but the menu is huge. We don't mean it has too much on offer, just enough really, but with all the oysters, Dungeness crab, sea urchin, lobster, chowdah, crab cakes, steamed clams, a few meaty dishes (pork belly!), sides and desserts, there's definitely something for everyone. Add in cocktails like the Chaperone (G'Vine gin, Dolin dry vermouth, pickled onions and castelvetrano olives) or the sparkling Innocents Abroad (sparkling wine, passionfruit, lavender and Thai basil), a few craft beers and artisanal wines, and you've pretty much covered it all. Oysters range from $2.75 to $3.50 a piece, up to $38.50 for a dozen or a sampler of all today's oysters for $35.50. You'll find Olympias from Washington and Miyagis from California, Wildfires from New York and Forbiddens from Virginia. Other items from the raw bar include littleneck clams, Peruvian scallops, Prince Edward Island mussels, jumbo shrimp, chilled lobsters, Dungeness crab and California sea urchin. And the shellfish towers - from the cutely named SS Minnow, which serves one to two people, for $39, up to the Mothershucker for $145. For the rest of the menu:
