San Francisco design house and retail shop Upper Playground has paid homage to several dining institutions through the San Francisco Heritage Preservation Society project. There is s special commemorative plate for the dearly missed Doggie Diner chain, a Maltese Falcon pendant fashioned after the iconic statue at John's Grill, and branded cookies made by Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory. Now, the company has announced a stylish cardboard tamale tray made in honor of Virginia Ramos, the roaming vendor better known to Mission District drinkers as the Tamale Lady. Alas, unlike these other food-related items, the tray is not currently available for sale on the site. This isn't the first time Ramos has been honored in an artistic fashion; she is the subject of a 2007 documentary called Our Lady of Tamale.
