Today in Travel: Glass-Bottom Planes and Ferris Wheel Hotels

Don't look down; rendering courtesy of Virgin Atlantic.
It’s an exciting day in travel news, folks. Not only has Virgin Atlantic announced a fleet of new glass-bottomed planes (check out that view!), but they’ve also converted the Virgin America first class cabins into canine sections with mood-lit fire hydrants by Frank Gehry and puppy tapas menus. Southwest is adding hot air balloons to its flight options and Delta has designed double decker armrests for fliers stuck in the middle seat, according to Airline Reporter. In hotel news, New York’s Yotel has launched a zipline from its roof into Times Square, a ferris wheel hotel has opened in the UK and you can finally rent out rooms in Buckingham Palace thanks to hotels.com. In related news, it’s April 1st.
