Stella Rossa Serves Lunch, New Sandwiches Starting Today

I want to eat a hero
Jeff Mahin's pizza is already a hit in Santa Monica, and now the Stella Rossa chef has turned his talents to sandwiches, which, when you think about it, are just pizza toppings stuffed between two slices of chewy, toasted housemade bread. Starting today, look for new offerings like a porchetta sandwich with smoked mozzarella, spinach, caramelized onions and spicy tomato jam; the Stella Hero with ham, turkey, salumi, provolone, tomato and spicy giardiniera; and a pork meatball sub with fresh mozzarella and romesco, among other things.

There are a few new pizzas too, like one topped with that porchetta, and an olive oil-poached tuna salad with blue lake beans, yellow wax beans, fingerling potatoes and crisp romaine lettuce. (Maybe he'll bring those offerings east when the new Lettuce Entertain You group restaurant opens in Hollywood.) Catch the new lunch menu on Fridays from 11 AM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM (along with the brunch menu).
