A group of students at Hyde Park, NY's Culinary Institute of America, one of the nation's most rigorous culinary schools, walked out of class on Tuesday to protest what they deemed a "weakening enforcement of educational standards." 90 or so students participated in the walk-out, gathering in the plaza to listen to speeches and donning name tags which revealed how much they owed each in student loans. While many of the complaints are run-of-the-mill, some of the specific grievances from the students included lowered admission and graduation standards, failure to enforce dress codes and too rapidly expanding.
