The Sofitel Los Angeles has gone through some food and bev changes this year, starting with a new Mediterranean restaurant, Esterel, which replaced Simon LA in January. Named after a coastal region of France, it offers a mix of salads, flatbreads, entrees like diver scallops with farro tabbouleh and carrot harissa, and desserts, plus a "30-minute lunch" - four courses for $24 served daily. On May 3, the lounge changes to Riviera 31, with both tableside cocktail preparations and Matt Biancaniello's (Cliff's Edge, Library Bar) crafty seasonal cocktails at the bar. There's a new U-shaped bar, plush velvet seating, patent leather walls and cabanas outside. Look for DJs and live entertainment, plus bottle service and other clubby accoutrements on various nights throughout the week.
