Tequila Tasting Party with Joanne Weir
We don’t normally think about doing tequila shots at a bookstore, but you can do just that this Saturday afternoon with Copita chef and PBS star Joanne Weir, who happens to also be the author of the book Tequila: A Guide to Types, Flights, Cocktails and Bites. Weir will be talking on the subject and leading a guided tasting of artisanal tequilas at Omnivore Books on Food. In addition, she and Omnivore’s general manager Brian Basmajian will be proffering special tequila cocktails and some Mexican small plates (Saturday 4 PM, $5 per person, 3885 A Cesar Chevez St, 415-282-4712)

Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival
This weekend, take a road trip up to the Sonoma Coast and hang with the local fisherman at the Bodega Bay 40th Annual Fisherman’s Festival, a family-friendly affair that will be hawking BBQ oysters, clam chowder and local fish ‘n’ chips, along with wine tastings of more than 25 Sonoma County wines. Other activities include a golf tournament, craft booths, pony rides, live entertainment, a wooden-boat challenge and the annual Blessing of the Fleet. Free Concert, BBQ and Bonfire on Treasure Island
Spend the evening enjoying live music by three top-notch local bands (Safe, the Fresh & Onlys and Two Gallants) while enjoying a free supply of Black Star beer, BBQ and s’mores (while supplies last) and a big ole bonfire at JanSport’s latest Bonfire Session, a free outdoor concert being held this Sunday at the Fogwatch Picnic Area on Treasure Island. In addition to the complimentary beats and brews, JanSports will be giving away a limited edition of gear and silk- screen posters commemorating the concert. The event is free but you must RSVP here in advance.
