The monthlong celebration of empanadas at Cuba Libre hits a high point today - National Empanada Day - as the Old City restaurant offers specials deals at “Caippy Hour.” From 5-7 PM, you can score a slew of flavors of chef Guillermo Pernot’s empanadas for just $1 each (215-627-0666).

Taco Tuesday will take place at Lolita every week in April and May, which means $20 will score you a bounty of make-your-own-tacos of your desired filling. Choose Marcie Turney’s corn-crusted mahi, grilled filet tips, puerco borracha (pork loin and chorizo) or asparagus and wild mushrooms, and wrap it up in fresh corn tortillas will all the fixings you need. Reservations are highly recommended (215-546-7100).

Learn to create your own terrarium with the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. Over wine and snacks at the PHS McLean Library, experts will lead you through a class on design, plant and container selection and maintenance, making it easy to bring the season’s green indoors ($23; 5:30-7 PM; 215-988-8872; tickets here).

In Rittenhouse, Matyson is going nuts for spring. This week’s tasting menu, available Monday-Thursday, featured nuts in five different courses. Look for pistachio ravioli with fava beans, hazelnut-crusted halibut, cashew duck breast and other nutty bites, all for $45 per person (215-564-2925).

Oxbow Brewing beers are landing in Philadelphia at Resurrection Ale House, and at 5 PM the Greys Ferry pub will tap Space Cowboy Country Ale, Farmhouse Pale Ale and Sasuga Saison.  Head over to sample the not-often-seen drafts and welcome former Nodding Head brewer Mike Fava back to town (215-735-2202).

Get on your flapper best and rise to the top of the Mellon Bank Building as the Lemon Society Speakeasy takes over the Pyramid Club for its annual fundraiser benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Attendees will sample special cocktails from five different mixologists and vote along with a panel of judges (we’ll be there!) for the Spirit of Speakeasy ($75; 8-11 PM; tickets here).

Big Wood Weekend brings wood-smoked and barrel-aged beers to Northern Liberties’ Standard Tap. The pub will fill its draft lines with wood-touched local stouts, IPAs, barleywines, sours, and Belgian dubbels, and offer a menu to pair with every style (215-238-0630).
