Pastoral’s Artisan Fest Brings Wine, Beer, Meat and Tons of Cheese

Tomorrow, Pastoral’s Artisan Producer Fest will bring small food producers to the Chicago French Market for a day of gourmet delights. The free event celebrates its third year not only with tasty treats, but with a lineup of special guests such as Charlie McKenna from Lillie’s Q, Rob Levitt from Butcher & Larder and Brady Lowe of Cochon 555 breaking down a Heritage pig. The meat experts will also be giving away tickets to Sunday’s Cochon 555 stop in Chicago. On a less meaty note, representatives from Bello Tea will demonstrate how to make their heart-healthy, memory-boosting, cancer-fighting and antioxidant rich tea. Kicking off the fest at 11 AM is Pastoral’s co-owner and founder, Greg O’Neill.

More importantly, what can you eat at the fest? Twenty-five cheese-makers will be in attendance from local farms such as Prairie Fruits Farm to Oregon’s Rogue Creamery. Meats from Smoking Goose and packed good from Stu’s Kitchen, Potter’s Crackers and Quince & Apple will be sold. Confectioner (and 30 Under 30 honoree) Katherine Duncan will sell her gourmet chocolates and caramels alongside another local confectioner, Salted Caramel. Representatives from local breweries; vineyards from Illinois, California, France and Italy; and world-renowned La Trapp will pour beer and wine. Once again, the event is free and continues until 3 PM.
