Last night we attended the premiere party for Anthony Bourdain's upcoming new CNN series, Parts Unknown, which premieres Sunday night. Bourdain and his wife Ottavia were both there as well as Anderson Cooper (who looks like a wax-likeness of himself in real life), Questlove and chef Michael Lomonaco (whose Porter House NY restaurant housed the event.)
Within five minutes of walking in, we were happily bombarded by every cater waiter in the place, and managed to sample a fried oyster, salmon tartare, gazpacho, fried chicken and shrimp cocktail in record time. Impressive.
Bourdain gave a brief thank-you speech but nothing much went down other than a good amount of schmoozing and photo-snapping. The first episode played on TVs lining the room (which no one could hear), but the excitement around the new series in the NY media world is definitely palpable.
