Noir Lounge Opens in Hayes Valley with Flicks and Kitschy Bar Snacks

Doing it part to bringing sexy back is Noir Lounge, a new sultry, date-night worthy wine bar and beer-pub that opened last night on the main drag of Hayes Valley. Channeling a 1940s jazz-era looking vibe, the lounge boasts two bars, including a gorgeous glow-in-the-dark, honey-onyx bar stocked with a bountiful curated collection of booze – 55 wines (including four on tap) and 28 craft and Belgian beers (including eight on tap), but no doubt the greatest appeal will be the private screening room in the back that's outfitted with deco vintage sofas and clubby lounge chairs, which will be showing back-to-back film noir classics (or a big sports games) accompanied by clever iterations of movie snacks- think savory and sweet popcorn and Dr. Pepper-flavored cotton candy.
  

In addition to the Americana-style bar food, interim chef Joanna Karlinsky of Sweet Jo's (who is stepping in to fill gap when the original chef had to bail) will be serving some her signature foods such as chili, johnnycakes and her famous Meeting House biscuits with gravy. For now, Noir Lounge will be open until 10 PM during the week, until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and from 1-9PM on Sunday; weekend brunch is in the works.

  1. Was there last night. Beautiful spot and love the ambiance. Service was lacking.... waited about 25 minutes for drinks. Food needs revamping. Tater cheese sticks completely bland. Rice and beans: beans undercooked, rice soggy, way to much cheese and really no flavor :(

  2. Hayes Valley. Love the neighborhood... Every time my friends and I go to Espetus Churrascaria [our fave] we meet in a bar for a few drinks. It's part of our ritual to indulge in their meat fest! That made me hungry!

  3. Went 2 nights ago and got served a warm Stella....sure hope this locale has refrigeration. I plan on watching some sports at this place so this is key to me. Side note: not too crazy about the cheese taters either.
