New Books From Roy Choi, Suzanne Goin, Lemonade and More

It's going to be a banner year for cookbooks and such penned by LA chefs and restaurateurs. We have Roy Choi's forthcoming L.A. Son: My Life, My City, My Food (no longer called Spaghetti Junction), an exploration of what makes Roy Choi Roy Choi, and how Kogi came to be, coming out in November. The book is available for pre-order here.

Then there's Suzanne Goin's The A.O.C. Cookbook, with recipes plus the people and stories behind the beloved small plates (and so much more) restaurant on West Third Street. When she and business partner Caroline Styne were about to move A.O.C to its new location, Goin told us that the book will feature some of the most popular recipes. "It has classic dishes like the brioche with egg, the cavolo nero and the bacon-wrapped dates. But it's broken down for regular-sized portions. I don’t think people want to serve seven or so small plates for dinner at home."

If you're as much a fan of the Lemonade grab-and-go salads as we are, Alan Jackson's forthcoming Lemonade Cookbook, also due this fall, is now available for pre-order. As is Valerie Gordon's Sweet, which is based off her best cakes, pastries, jams, chocolates and more from Valerie Confections.
