McDonald's to Source All Pork From RSPCA-Approved British Farms

This might make you feel less guilty about your next Sausage and Egg McMuffin. McDonald's has announced that it will source all pork for its U.K. restaurants from British farms that meet strict animal-welfare standards. The Daily Mail reports that from the end of April, all sausage and bacon on the menu will be 100% Freedom Food pork, which means it comes from farms approved by the RSPCA.

Warren Anderson, vice president of the supply chain at McDonald's U.K., commented on the decision, saying: 'Not only will our move to Freedom Food pork make it easier for people to make affordable, ethical choices on the high street, we hope that more of Britain's pig producers will have the confidence to invest in the future and adopt the RSPCA's higher-welfare standards on their farms.'
