|Eat UMini's B.U.B. burger for Burger Month|
For a taste of Spain via LA, chef Sergio Perera, who worked at San Sebastian's Arzak in Spain, as well as at Jean-Georges and Ludobites, pops up at Echo Park's Cortez starting tonight and tomorrow. Check out his contemporary, slightly molecular four-course menus for $55 (veg options available) plus a separate a la carte bar menu. Chef Anne Conness hosts an If I Were a Taco Truck beer dinner at Tin Roof Bistro in Manhattan Beach tonight. Five courses include dishes like shrimp and crab chile rellenos, Brussels sprouts and bacon tostadas, roasted duck tamale cakes and butter cake with coconut ice cream, with beer pairings from El Segundo Brewing Company. $45 gets you a seat; starts at 6:30 PM (3500 N. Watch local bartenders go head to head at the May Mix-Off held every Wednesday at the Mixing Room, the lobby bar at the JW Marriott at LA Live, starting tonight. Each round includes two bouts, one being Iron Chef-style. The event is free and open to the public, and snacks and handcrafted cocktails are available while they're all busy shaking and stirring. Top Chef's most affable Italian chef, Fabio Viviani, signs copies of his new cookbook, Fabio's Italian Kitchen, at Vroman's in Pasadena tonight. All the recipes are inspired by his mother's and grandmother's Italian recipes, some of which you can taste at his restaurant Cafe Firenze in Moorpark. The signing begins at 7 PM (695 E.
