La Ciccia Plans A Spinoff Enoteca and Prosciutteria in Noe Valley
While the swank Acquerello is gearing up for the spring launch off its casual Italian spinoff 1760, across town Noe Valleyites are thrilled with the latest news that the owners of their beloved Sardinian restaurant La Ciccia are planning on opening a second eatery in the ‘hood. Inside Scoop reports that chef-owner Massimiliano Conti and his wife Lorella Degan have scooped up the vacant storefront at 1781 Church Street and plan to install a casual enoteca called La Nebbia. Conti explains that in addition to proffering a small, mostly Italian wine list, the new eatery will be “an enoteca, but also a prosciutteria and fresh cheese bar” -- he plans to offers “10 or so cured hams from Italy and beyond” and range of fresh cheeses such as mozzarella, burrata and ricotta, both local and Italian in provenance. Conti also plans to install a double-deck pizza oven for turning out pizzas, roasts of the day and several types of lasagna (but alas, no signature pastas). If all goes well with the change of use permit, La Nebbia is slated to open in the fall.
