Kris restaurant announced its closing yesterday, via Facebook. “April Fools?” was the hopeful response of one commenter, but the response from management was in the negative. Kris opened in late 2011 as a relaxed redo of the former white-tablecloth spot Kristian’s. All gift certificates for Kris will be honored at Stogie Joe’s, the East Passyunk tavern also owned by Kristian Leuzzi and partners.
Passyunk Post offers that the closure isn’t exactly surprising, since the building and restaurant it holds were up for sale since last October. The location is no longer on the market, so perhaps someone bought it and is planning a new restaurant? We’re hoping that’s the case, and that former Kris chef Greg Dooner is hired, because his food was banging.
