Jason Vincent Named a Food & Wine Best New Chef

The King of Porc, chef Jason Vincent, earned a new title today, one of Food & Wine magazine’s Best New Chefs. Vicent has spent the past four years working as executive chef of Nightwood in Pilsen. We know what you are thinking, “Wait, he is not new?” No, but neither are his fellow honorees New York’s Danny Bowien and Los Angeles’ Michael Voltaggio. The award is given to chefs who spend five years or fewer running a kitchen. Previous honors include Danny Grant in 2012 and Stephanie Izard in 2011. Vincent is recognized for his commitment to the farm-to-table philosophy as a well as simple approach to food using exceptional ingredients, “There’s that saying that a well-dressed woman should take off one accessory before leaving the house. I believe that,” Vincent told Food & Wine. “We don’t need to put truffles on everything and hike up the cost.” Check out the complete list of honorees here as well as Vincent's acceptance blog post.
