Harvest's Brian Mercury Wins People's Choice for Best Pastry Chef in the East

It’s official. Brian Mercury, pastry chef of Harvest in Cambridge, has won Food & Wine People’s Best New Pastry Chef 2013 East Coast region. His winning dessert? Taza chocolate crèmeux, with housemade sea salt, salted caramel, brown sugar granola, milk chocolate malt sauce and vanilla mascarpone.

Mercury was one of 17 pastry chefs who were nominated in the region.

“It is a win for the whole team,” said Mercury in a statement. “We are all focused on staying true to our mission, starting with great locally sourced seasonal ingredients, and then throwing in creativity and hard work. That’s what we do every day in the Harvest kitchen. What an honor. I am so grateful.”
