Tørst's moment as Greenpoint's hottest new joint may be coming to an end as new restaurant and bar Alameda looks ready to open. The paper’s finally off the windows and guests were spilling out onto the sidewalk at a private party held earlier this week.
Co-owners Evan and Oliver Haslegrave, the duo behind design firm hOmE, have partnered with Brooklyn Star vets Nick Padilla and Waine Longwell to turn the prime corner space at Franklin Avenue and Green Street (formerly The Garden Spot Café) into an American bistro and bar.
Shiny white tile, dark-wood details, moody lighting and elegant ceiling molding recall other hipster dining and drinking spots designed by the Haselgraves, including Tørst, Paulie Gee’s, Donna, The Manhattan Inn and Goat Town.
The Andrew Tarlow joint, Achilles Heel, will be at the other end of that block, and that's also looking like it will be opening soon - stay tuned. Alameda is located at 195 Franklin Ave.
