First Look: Grape and Vine, Now Open in the West Village's Jade Hotel

Although Marvin Gaye may have popularized the phrase "I heard it through the grapevine" with his famous song, the term was apparently coined in the mid-nineteenth century at a bar dubbed the Grapevine Tavern that was located on 11th Street. That haunt was the inspiration for Grape & Vine, a restaurant in the West Village's new boutique property The Jade Hotel. Currently open, the venue is from restaurateur Fredrick Lesort and features a menu of French-influenced American fare from chef Vincent Ricciardelli, who relies heavily on the nearby Union Square Green Market for his lineup of ingredients. Expect dishes like steak tartare with crispy baby artichokes and pork chops from Niman ranch.

The dining area is lit by a skylight and features high-backed red banquettes that provide a sense of privacy for your own gossip exchanges and an intimate bar upfront that serves cocktails along with charcuterie, flat breads and selections from a raw bar. The restaurant is now serving at 52 W 13th St.
