French Laundry, Cyrus Chefs Land in the South Bay

Not quite a Napa view, but it works
The Strand House's guest-chef culinary series hits a couple more high notes this spring with big-time Napa and Sonoma chefs cooking for one night only. First is Douglas Keane from the wonderful Cyrus, which closed last year, on April 29. The five-course menu - cauliflower and uni parfait; seared scallop with morel and ramp fondue; soba-wrapped ocean trout; Wagyu beef with sweet corn and roasted daikon; black sesame panna cotta - will be paired with heavy-hitter wines from La Sirena Vineyards, Opus One, Seghesio and Byron Winery. $100 per person; $50 for wine pairings.

Timothy Hollingsworth, who recently left The French Laundry but moved to LA, pops in on May 20. The five-course menu, which is still to be announced, is $200 per person. Sure, a pricey penny, but practically a steal considering what a night at FL would cost. Sonoma's B Wise Vinyards wines will be poured alongside the menu. Both dinners start at 7 PM.
