Chelsea Market's Lobster Place Reopens, The Claw Closes For Good

Chelsea Market's Lobster Place has been closed down since January 1 for an extensive remodel, a bummer since the lobster roll at this joint is a secret threat for the best in town. The seafood mart has been inside the Chelsea Market since the 1990s, so a revamp was definitely in order. The new digs - including some exciting options for on-site dining - are ready to debut tomorrow. there will a new sushi bar with a omakase, a standing bar where you can slurp down oysters and a separate area that serves cooked lobster. The team behind the venue will also plans to launch new restaurant Cull & Pistol in neighboring space next month.

Chelsea gains one lobster roll, and loses another. The West 23rd Street location of The Claw, which inexplicably reopened after closing down a few months back, is closed once again. Their roll is still available at an outpost in Hell's Kitchen.
