The annual Cherry Blossom Festival’s Taste of Japan event takes place tonight at the Carnegie Library at Mt. Vernon Square. The walk around tasting will feature specialties from the area’s top Japanese restaurants, including KAZ Sushi Bistro, Sushi Taro, Toki Underground and more, as well as sake and craft beer tastings from almost twenty different Japanese brewers. Guests can sample the likes of the luxurious Born Sake, retailing for upwards of $400 per bottle, Kubota Sake from the Nigato prefecture (an area renowned for its sake production) and the Coedo Brewery’s beer made from sweet potatoes (801 K Street, NW; 7-10 PM, $100, VIP, $150, go here for tickets).
Other delicious ways to celebrate the lovely blossoms are the Cherry Pick specialty cocktails or creative dishes at restaurants around town.
