Carnival Corporation plans to spend $700 million upgrading its fleets following a series of equipment failures, Fox News reports. Engine room fires in 2010 and in February of this year crippled ships, and three additional mechanical problems have occurred in the past two months alone. The company will spend $300 million to add backup power generators, improve fire safety and change operating procedures on its Carnival ships. The remaining money will be spent on enhancements for its other ship lines, including Princess, Holland America, Seabourn and Cunard. The company plans to complete the improvements over the next several months. What do you think? Do these upgrades make you more likely to trust the cruise line? Would you feel comfortable booking a cruise in light of recent events?
