Trash fish are those lesser-known species (dogfish, smelt, speckled trout and triggerfish) often discarded or ignored despite being sustainable. A multicourse dinner on Monday at Big Jones with chef Paul Fehribach and several of his chef friends features these “trash fish.” Tickets cost $125 and can be purchased online.
For the past year, The Rice Table (an Indonesian catering company) hosted pop-up dinners at Vincent. To celebrate its first successful year, the chefs are going to keep doing what they do best and cook a 13-dish Rijsttafel dinner accompanied by an amuse-bouche and dessert on May 5. Tickets cost $45 and can be purchased online.
We told you all about that fancy new food magazine from editor David Tamarkin and photographer Erica Gannett. Now, sample some of the dishes from the magazine without having to turn on the stove. Blue Sky Bakery & Café is hosting a dinner party on May 30. Three courses from the publication, including carrot-cumin soup and spring chicken will be served. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased online.
Finally, a festival that combines our two great loves: beer and furry animals. Living Social is hosting a craft beer festival on June 15 at Lincoln Park Zoo. Entry to the event includes beers, access to food trucks, live music and access to all of the animals. Tickets cost $39 and can be purchased through Living Social.
