Best Thing We Ate Last Night: Trout at Left Bank

At our first visit to West Village's Left Bank, we decided to go light by choosing the pan-roasted local trout. The fresh tasting catch was accompanied by chickpeas, carrot and an arugula-walnut pesto. The simple, roasted vegetables complemented the fish well, and the lemon zest on top provided a welcome hint of acid. Even ardent carnivores wouldn't miss red meat while tucking into this dish ($26; 212-727-1170).
