Spring has sprung! And with it, our desire for ice cream (or at least permission to admit we’ve been eating it). You can’t trip in Manhattan without falling into a fro-yo place, but something about warmer weather makes us want the good stuff, and we always know where to go for that: The Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory in, you guessed it, Chinatown. After soup dumplings and scallion pancakes, there’s no better way to end your meal than with some traditional Chinese flavors, like green tea, black sesame, lychee, egg custard or red bean. All are great (yes, we sampled them all - don’t judge), but it was the taro ice cream taste that had us opting for a full-size. In our opinion, this light purple, starchy plant was born to add a sweet, nutty flavor to bubble teas and ice creams. And after adding in some chewy mochi, we could practically taste summer.
