Austin Weekly Planner: Cocktail-Off and Mac-and-Cheese Sausage

You might want to clone yourself this week, or at least commit to putting on your party shoes. There are quite a few events that sound like too much fun to pass up.

Bangers and Brews Kickoff Party for Austin Restaurant Week
Two misnomers: Austin Restaurant Week doesn’t start until April 7, and it’s actually two weeks long. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t start the celebration early. Head to Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden for appetizers, live music and (of course) plenty of beer to get the party started. Funds benefit local nonprofit Kids in a New Groove. (81 Rainey St., 6 – 9 PM, $10 suggested donation)

Cover Model Duel and Cocktail-Off
The "best shot" in this case refers to the bartender who can bang out a drink of tequila the quickest. Joyce Garrison, the “libationist” at the W Hotel, faces off against her mentor, David Alan, the “Tipsy Texan” at the W’s Living Room bar on Tuesday night. Garrison and Alan are featured on the covers of April’s L Style G Style magazine, and the evening benefits the Grace Foundation and the U.S. Bartender’s Guild (Garrison’s and Alan’s respective choices). (W Hotel Living Room bar, 200 Lavaca St., 7 – 9 PM)

Eat Drink Woman
Sample a tasting from female chefs around Austin, bid in a silent auction and listen to local musician and ladies’ man Bob Schneider at this fundraiser for One World Theatre’s scholarship program for the Berklee College of Music and the ProStart high school culinary scholarship program. Chefs include Laura Sawicki from La Condesa and Sway, Kristine Kittrell from Mulberry, Kelly Hamill from Fabi and Rosi and more. (One World Theatre, 7701 Bee Cave Rd., 6:30 – 9:30, $125)

Sausage Party for New Food Truck
Celebrate the opening of the new Goldis Sausage Company food truck with handmade sausages from the cart as well as Alize liqueur and plenty of champagne. The sausages sound unusual and tasty, like blueberry-balsamic-maple, green curry with peanut and a mac-and-cheese sausage. Bangers and Wurst Tex, watch out! (907 E. Sixth St., 7:30 PM)
