Alinea Slips on World’s Best List, Picks Up Chef’s Choice Award

Yesterday, The World’s Fifty Best Restaurants were announced (slight sooner than they were scheduled, due to an over-egar reporter). The most important shift being that Noma slipped form number one to number two thanks to El Cellar de Can Roca swiping the number one spot. Meanwhile, in Chicago, Alinea dropped from number seven to 15 – a shift likely due to the limited amount of eligible voters and their affinity for the new and flashy over the tried and true. Executive chef Grant Achatz could not have been too disappointed, because he picked up the honor of the Chef’s Choice Award. An award bestowed upon him because of his consistent use of innovative techniques at his restaurant for the past eight years.
