In 2012, you were more likely to arrive on time along with your bags, according to the 2013 Airline Quality Report. The respected study, compiled by academics at Purdue University and Wichita State University, found that 81.8% of flights arrived on time last year compared with 80% the year before. And only 3.07 bags per 1,000 passengers were lost, down from 3.35 in 2011. So that's the good news. The bad news? Passenger complaints took off, rising 20% over the previous year. That could be partially due to the increase in passengers denied boarding from overbooked planes. Study co-author Dean Headley says it might also be due to the way airlines have been shrinking the size of their seats in order to jam more passengers on, according to the Huffington Post. So who were the overall winners? Virgin America received the top quality rating from the study, followed by JetBlue Airways and AirTran Airways. United Airlines, Express Jet and SkyWest airlines rounded out the bottom slots.

  1. There is nothing worse than finding out after a long day of travel that your bags didn't make it. Last year in Rome I found out that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure certainly applies when it comes to getting your misplaced luggage returned. Okoban tracker tags are equal to way more than a pound of cure in my book. They allow the airline or anyone else who finds your bags to immediately contact you by email or text (without revealing your personal information) with a pickup location. I got mine at Mystufflostandfound.com It worked like a charm for me and I ended up getting my lost bag back in less than 2 hours.
