5 Pigs, 5 Chefs: Cochon 555 LA Lineup Released

The annual gorge/pigfest known as Cochon 555 rolls back into the House of Blues on May 5. Yes, 555 on 5/5, celebrating the fifth year of the U.S. tour. The roving competition brings together five chefs, five different heritage breed pigs and five wineries, with the chefs all competing for the ultimate pigginess of their menus. And you get to reap the delicious rewards. This year's LA lineup: Joshua Whigham (Bazaar by José Andrés), Gavin Lansdale (Ford’s Filling Station), Ray Garcia (FIG Restaurant), Jet Tila (The Charleston) and host chef Sean Dent (House of Blues). The winner will compete against other regional winners at the Grand Cochon event at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. The last two winners were Chad Colby from Chi Spacca and Ben Ford, so the bar is set high.

At the event, you'll feast on samples from each chef, as well as a whole barbecued pig served to get everyone amped for a new Heritage BBQ event (from Chris Fuller and Christian Page). There are plenty of wines, craft brews, bourbons and other booze to wash it all down. VIP gets early access plus en extra tasting with three of the competing chefs. There's also an extra after-party ($55) in the Foundation Room with DJs, more food, a bourbon SnoCone bar and more cocktails.
