3 Specials for Red Sox Opening Day

Lots of hot dogs lots of ways at Coda on opening day.
The Boston Red Sox home opener on Monday, April 8 (2:05 PM) against the Baltimore Orioles is a big deal for us. To properly prepare, here are three lively hot spots to watch the game or stop in before or after.

Coda Bar & Kitchen in the South End is doing it up right with a slew of hot dog specials. There’s the Fenway Frank classic; the New York “Dirty Water” with mustard and sauerkraut; and the Chicago “Dragged Through the Garden” with yellow mustard, white onions and sweet pickle, among others. Dogs come with fries ($9; 617-536-2632).

Belly up to Sweet Cheeks’ outdoor beer garden in the Fenway, where you can toss back a cold one or order a new cocktail (they’re working on it for opening day!) while digging into some slow-smoked ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken and more before or after the game - the park is hop-skip away (617-266-1300).

Tamo Bar in the Seaport Hotel is serving up some yummy ballpark food (without the ballpark prices), including sausage and peppers ($6), two Kayem hot dogs ($5), a bag of housemade caramel popcorn and peanuts ($4), and a “bottomless” bucket of popcorn ($80, along with a special Beantown Slugger cocktail that features Stoli vanilla and A&W cream soda ($12). Play ball (617-385-4315)!
