Where to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in DC Metro

St Patrick's Day at Redwood
If you're looking to be Irish on St. Patrick's day, the DC area's watering holes and eateries are happy to oblige. There'll be everything from street celebrations with Gaelic food, music and dancing - and, of course, beer - to Belgian riffs on Reuben sandwiches and green margaritas at festive Mexican restaurants. So brush up your brogue, and get ready to lift a glass, because next weekend is party time. Here are some fun-packed possibilities.
March 16: Redwood in Bethesda is hosting an outdoor/indoor "eggs and kegs" brunch party, with $5 Guinness and a $15 meal that includes a beer (10 AM-3 PM; 301-656-5515).

March 17: There'll be Irish music and dancing, shepherd's pie, corned beef and Guinness at Virtue Feed and Grain in Old Town's Wales Alley from 11:30 AM-10 PM (571-970-3669).

March 15-17: Carolina Kitchen in Hyattsville will give an Irish spin to Southern eats, or vice versa, with the likes of Guinness barbecue wings and drinks like the Wasted Leprechaun (301-927-2929).

March 15-17: Who knew that Mexico celebrates San Patricio day? In any case, Fuego Cocina y Tequileria is whipping up green margaritas for $5 in honor of the Irish who fought in the Mexican Army against the U.S. (571-970-2180).

March 16-17: Don't expect green beer at the St. Pat's weekend celebration at Bethesda's Mussel Bar. Folks will get into the Dublin spirit with $5 Jameson, specialty Irish stouts on draft and Reuben sandwiches (301-215-7817).
