SoWe in Graduate Hospital. UK native Craig Steel has just taken over the bar (he has previously tended at Amada, a.kitchen and The Dandelion), and he’s revamped the entire beverage program. This Friday, March 22, a 5-7 PM happy hour will featured all his new cocktails at half their regular cost.
Steel rethought the chocolate-bacon martini that landed SoWe on the United States of Bacon TV show - it’s now made with house-infused bacon vodka instead of the pre-made stuff. In a similar sweet-and-savory vein is the Mexican Wild Fire, with Herradura reposado, honey and chili. On the more refined side are the Sweet Smoke (Laphroig 10 year with honey and ginger) and the bourbon-bitters Mustache.
All the drinks are already reasonably priced between $8-$13, so on Friday you’ll be looking at $4-$6 sips. There are also local brews and ciders on tap and in bottles, and a renovated wine list. Also new is chef Jennifer Choplin, late of The Butcher and the Brewer, so be on the lookout for innovative happy hour bites from her ambitious kitchen (215-545-5790).
