Weekend Planner: Beer Brunch and a Farmers Market in a Bar

Beers at SmallBar
Beer Dinner
Deschutes Brewery, which recently began slinging its Oregon brewed beers in Chicago, is collaborating with Cru Kitchen & Bar tonight for a three course-dinner at 6:30 PM. Dishes include wild salmon and duck liver mouse with Chainbreaker White IPA. Tickets cost $45 per person (312-337-4001).

Tequila Dinner
If tequila is more you speed, tonight Zocalo welcomes Partida for a tequila tasting at 6:30 PM. Sample the blanco, reposado and anejo tequila as well as two tequila cocktails and passed appetizers. Mixologist Victor Baheza acts as a tequila guide and also will raffle a chance to win Zocalo and Taco Joint gift cards or bottles of Partida tequila. Tickets cost $25 (312-302-9977).

Farmers Market
It’s a farmers market with a bar at The Empty Bottle on Saturday. The pop-up market features vendors from Growing Power, Crumb Bread, Karl’s Craft Soup, d'Avo Avocado Oil as well as a seed swap for any gardeners. The market is free from noon to 5 PM, and kids are welcome but adults must show ID to enter (773-276-3600).

Coffee-Beer Brunch
Start Sunday morning with two of our favorite beverages: coffee and beer at SmallBar Division. The four-course brunch paired coffee-spiked beers with breakfast favorites such as Stone and Two Brother’s Coffee IPA with smoked pork loin over crispy polenta with spicy pepper jelly. Tickets cost $32 (773-772-2727).
