We don’t like the word sellout, but until someone comes up with a better way to describe a newspaper dumping its food section in favor of an advertiser-driven pullout, that word will have to do. We’re taking about the Sun-Times that ran the last issue with a food section last Wednesday and debuted the replacement, today. It is called Taste and clearly is produced by the advertising department, not by editors. This is just another casualty in the slow death of print media. And a sad loss, but GrubStreet took a deeper look into the new section to see if the replacement will provide the financial boost the newspaper seeks.
