The Dolphin Tavern - self-billed as Philadelphia’s oldest go-go bar - shut down last summer, people were heartbroken. Ok, not really, but the South Philly icon-of-sorts had been around since the 1950s. Happily, the consortium of entrepreneurs that is responsible for excellent riverside craft beer bar Morgan’s Pier took over the space and next week is its grand relaunch.
What to expect from the group? The official line from Sean Agnew (R5 Productions), Avram Hornik and Mark Fichera (Four Corners Management) and partners is this:
“Some things have changed but most are just how you left them.”
The pedestals where naked dancers used to prance? The tiki girl murals on the walls? The wood paneling? Only one way to find out. Doors open at 5:30 PM, Wednesday, March 20.
