Slow Food Austin Explores "Fair Trade" Coffee

A latte from Caffe Medici
Coffee Week may be over, but it’s still our city’s drink of choice. Join Slow Food Austin and Bootleg Coffee on Wednesday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at new 24-hour coffee shop the Buzz Mill for a panel discussion about fair-trade coffee. Slow Food says,
“It feels particularly important when we’re considering foods that have to be imported because they cannot be grown locally or regionally. But what exactly does it mean? What is involved in actually “fair trading” as a business that sources coffee?”
The panel features Jess Haynie from Austin Coffee Roasters, Mauricio Bustamante from Bleu Cargo and Jeffrey Lorien from Zhi Tea and is led by Travis Kizer from Bootleg Coffee and the Buzz Mill and of course includes plenty of free java and food (free, RSVP to Chelsea Staires at Chelsea@slowfoodaustin.org).
