The lovely ladies of Chicago bartender will compete head to head in a contest that not only judges who can make the fastest but also the tastiest classic cocktails. Two-dozen bartenders will compete for the title of Miss Speed Rack Chicago and the ability to move on to the finals in New York City in May. They will be judged on speed and accuracy by a panel of four judges who include Paul McGee (Three Dots and a Dash), Lynn House (Blackbird), Peter Vestinos (BellyQ) and Miss Speed Rack USA 2012, Yael Vengroff. No only do guest get to cheer on the cocktail-slinging females, but try some of the creations while enjoying food from Revolucion Mexican Steakhouse. The event will be held at Cobra Lounge on Sunday. Ticket cost $20 in advance or $35 at the door, and proceeds benefit breast cancer research.
For a bit of gender equality, head to Dolphin on Thursday, March 28 for the Wicker Park and Bucktown Mixologist Mash-Up. Rather than competing with classics, the goal of this contest of the create a signature cocktail for the neighborhood – capturing the essence of the West Side in a glass. Competing bartenders represent Antique Taco, Club Lucky, Dolphin, Fatpour Tap Works, Lottie's Pub, Prasino, Red Door Kitchen & Bar, The Boundary, The Savoy and Wicker Park Tavern. Food will be provided. Tickets cost $40 in advance or $50 at the door, and proceeds help underwrite the marketing and promotional activities in support of local businesses by the Wicker Park Chamber of Commerce.
