|Shake Shack in Chestnut Hill|
Shake Shack fans in New England can start revving their appetites. The first fast-casual burger and shake concept by New York restaurateur Danny Meyer is opening tomorrow, March 20 at 11 AM, along Route 9 in Chestnut Hill.
The store is in a redeveloped lifestyle shopping mall rebranded The Street Chestnut Hill.
Shake Shack joins a myriad of local upstarts - UBurger, b.good, Tasty Burger - that are Boston-based fast-casual burger joints.
Recycled and sustainable materials, such as walls of reclaimed wood from an old paper mill at Mount Tom, Holyoke, and reclaimed bowling alley lanes for tabletops make up the funky interior. You’ll find the usual Shake Shack classics, such as burgers made with 100% Angus beef, flat-top hot dogs, fries and “shakes," which are thick frozen custard creations. The Chestnut Hill locale will showcase some specialty flavors such as Revere’s Tracks (vanilla frozen custard, cheesecake blondie, peanut butter sauce and chocolate sprinkles) and Lobstah Shell (vanilla frozen custard, lobster tail pastry shell from Boston’s North End, strawberry purée and ricotta cream).
Diners will have access to free WiFi.
“Chestnut Hill is a thriving community with easy access to Downtown Boston, Newton and Brookline, as well as close proximity to Boston College,” said Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO in a statement.
Shake Shack’s philanthropic side, Stand for Something Good, is reaching out to local nonprofit Birthday Wishes, which provides birthday parties for homeless children. Order a Lobstah Shell shake and 5% of sales will benefit Birthday Wishes.
Shake Shack is part of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group. The first Shake Shack opened in New York City’s Madison Square Park in 2004.
