SF Weekend Planner: Bottomless Wine, Cheese and Street Food

Off the Grid Returns to Fort Mason
Forget the equinox. Another harbinger that spring has officially arrived is the return of Off the Grid’s Friday night gatherings down at Fort Mason. The flagship event will feature 32 mobile food vendors—some new, some veterans, plus a makeshift bar that slings craft beer and artisan cocktails from Alembic and Magnolia Brewery. See the complete list of vendies online (Friday 5-10 PM, every week).

Rhone Rangers Ride into Town
The cowboys of wine –namely American vintners producing Rhone-style varietals –will be convening at Fort Mason this weekend for their annual Rhone Rangers Celebration. The two-day festival includes seminars, wine dinners and the signature Grand Tasting, which offers guests the opportunity to sample the largest selection of Rhone-style wines (think Roussane, Viognier, Syrah, Grenache, Mouvedre) under one roof. Check out the complete schedule of events and reserve tickets online (Saturday and Sunday, Ft Mason Center, $225 for a weekend pass, individual events priced separately from $50-$150).

Get Cheesy at the Annual California Artisan Cheese Festival
Savor three glorious days of cheesy goodness at this annual fromage hootenanny that takes place in Petaluma starting Friday. In addition to sampling over 75 numbers of cheese, the festival will showcase farm tours, hands-on cheesmaking classes, cheese pairings with beer and wine and a cheese marketplace. Friday night’s opening event is only $35 a head and will satisfy all your beer, wine and cheese cravings. For the full schedule and ticket info, go online (Friday-Sunday, Sheraton Palace Hotel, 745 Baywood Drive Petaluma).
