| Pickle Jar Kitchen in Falmouth |
Cape Cod tends to be quiet in the winter, but there are two new places that have opened over the past few months worth pointing out: Pickle Jar Kitchen and a new bakery cafe, Maison Villatte, both in Downtown Falmouth.
Pickle Jar Kitchen is a sweet storefront breakfast-and-lunch cafe that focuses on healthy, all-natural ingredients on an American menu. Breakfast includes buttermilk griddlecakes, all kinds of hashes (a specialty), eggs and a tofu scramble. Sandwiches, salads and soups make up the lunch menu, which also includes an open-faced boneless barbecue pork sandwich. The space features a tan and green interior, with two inviting window seats and an old-fashioned counter that doubles as a bar. Even with the short hours, they hold a full liquor license, which means bloody Mary’s and mimosas on Sundays.
Housed in an antique building, Pickle Jar is casual and rustic with mason jar lights in the windows and a photo of the building back in the 1920s when it used to be a pharmacy (hence the counter/bar).
Pickle Jar Kitchen is open 7 AM-3 PM daily, serving breakfast until 11 AM most days, and until noon on Sundays. Then it’s lunch until 3 PM. It is closed on Tuesdays.
170 Main St., Falmouth; 508-540-6760
Stay tuned for information on Maison Villatte.
