Our Austin: Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse

To celebrate our new Austin blog, we're highlighting the must-try spots for every Austinite (and visitor!) in the "Our Austin" series. Check for 'em every day to discover tried-and-true Austin locales that you may know well or may find for the first time!

Hang out at this South First spot for great people watching and solid vegetarian brunch fare. The mix of old-school hippies, new-school scenesters, punk rock kids and longtime South Austinites epitomizes the city, as do the breakfast tacos, omelets and vegan sweets from places like Red Rabbit Cooperative Bakery. Service is, shall we say, relaxed here, so be prepared to take your time and read the newspaper, chat with friends, play with your dog on the patio or nurse that hangover.

The restaurant’s new digs are a year or so old and are much airier than the old location across the street, where Elizabeth Street CafĂ© now stands. But it still has the same commitment to organic, fair-trade coffee, local ingredients and social, political and environmental awareness.
