Openings: Fickle and The Sandwich Smith, Ramekin Now Serving

Little Tokyo's new two-in-one restaurant, Fickle and The Sandwich Smith, is now serving. The space - exposed ducts, lots of windows, cement floors, some communal tables - doesn't really change, but by day it's The Sandwich Smith, serving you guessed it, sandwiches. On the menu: Dr. Pepper pulled pork, buttermilk fried chicken, shrimp salad, egg salad, seasoned vegetables with your choice of sauces and mayos, breads (donut bun!), and other toppings (bacon coleslaw?!). At night, the space transforms into Fickle, with the same chef (James Ta) now offering things like grilled quail with black-vinegar glaze, roasted bone marrow, eggplant ravioli, sweetbreads with Madeira sauce, pan-roasted skate wing and grilled spot prawns. Sandwiches are available from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with dinner starting at 5:30 PM (362 E. 1st St.; 213-628-1888).

And hitting the sweet spot in Los Feliz is the dessert-only newcomer Ramekin from Paul Yoo (Mexicali Taco & Co.) and chef Jason Park (Maru). You'll find hot and cold desserts - apple cake, banana cream pie, chocolate bread pudding, and seasonal ice creams and sorbets - all served in ramekins. Serving only in the evenings for now (1726 N.
