Vernick, is a man who knows his spirits. On the shelf behind the Rittenhouse bar you’ll spot his early-edition, hardbound copies of both Trader Vic's and Old Mr. Boston bartender guides, and on the cocktail list is a section of classics from that era (think Martinez, Pegu Club and Jack Rose). The other part of the drink menu, however, is made up of Stipo’s original creations, and a new set has just rolled out.
The Seymour combines Rittenhouse rye with both Campari and Carpano Antica, plus apricot, for a biting medicinal sip that will please fans of bracing whiskey drinks. On the flipside is Earl the Second, made with Earl Grey, lemon, spices and “froth.” There are also now three draft beers offered, perfect to enjoy on the ledge of the large front window, which will no doubt soon be flung open to welcome spring (267-639-6644).
