Pasadena's Massive Urth Caffe Slated for Summer Opening

The current view...
Holy giant coffeehouse. Urth Caffe just gets bigger and bigger, and we don't just mean because it's about to open a fifth location. The uber-popular, celeb-filled and oft-Entouraged West Hollywood location debuted in 1994, and since then Urth has opened locations in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and the most recent in Downtown LA's Arts District. The announcement that owners Shallom and Jill Berkman would build, from the ground up, an Urth Caffe in Pasadena's Playhouse District has been out for five years now, but the space only recently began to take shape.

Behold the two-floor building, with what will probably be stucco exterior, and gorgeous hand-crafted tiles from California Pottery and Tile Works both inside and out. It looks like it will be pretty stunning, and considering only a couple blocks from the Pasadena Playhouse, Vroman's and the Laemmle Theater, we're sure it will have plenty of business from the get-go. Pasadeans do love their pie and sandwiches, after all.

Although signage points to a spring 2013 opening, a call to the downtown Urth, where they're holding interviews for the new spot every Thursday from 9-11 AM, confirms that it will be this summer, most likely June or maybe July.
