Los Angeles Dining Deals and Events, Mar. 18-24

Get in line for the new fancy Beard Papa's
Monday, March 18
Congratulations. You made it through an extremely long day of beer and whiskey (maybe sometimes even colored green) yesterday, and now you're probably at work. The only thing that will make what is probably one of the longest days of your life easier - hair of the dog. New daily drink specials at the Lobby Lounge at Santa Monica's Casa del Mar hotel start this week, including craft beer specials on Mondays, rye and bourbon on Tuesdays, sparkling wine on Wednesdays, and so on. Live entertainment includes jazz trios and KCRW DJs, depending on the day.

Tuesday, March 19
Tonight and tomorrow, to celebrate the new Clover take-away juice bar window at The Churchill, chef Bruce Kalman will feature a four-course juice-paired dinner at the West Hollywood restaurant. That's right - no booze, just cold-pressed juices and dishes like seared sea scallops with maitake mushrooms, English peas and glazed Nantes carrots (to go with carrot-apple juice), Maggie's Farm greens with lamb bacon and shaved baby artichokes (clover ginger snap juice), and a grass-fed hanger steak with gnocchi alla romana and crispy Tuscan kale (Go Big juice). $45 per person. 5-9 PM (8384 W. 3rd St.; 323-655-8384).

Wednesday, March 20
Hump day = tequila. Taste a flight of Tres Sietes Tequila alongside Mexican tapas like goat cheese-stuffed red jalapenos, bacon-wrapped scallops, and mini tres leches cakes at West Hollywood's Tortilla Republic. $40 per person or $75 for two. Festivities begin at 6:30 PM (616 N. Robertson Blvd.; 310-657-9888).

Thursday, March 21
The winemaker from Paso Robles' excellent Villa Creek Cellars will hold court on Shade Hotel's rooftop skydeck for the monthly Wine Academy tonight from 6:30-8:30 PM. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and include wine tasting, complimentary passed appetizers, and a chance to chat with Paul Lopez from Villa Creek. Afterwards, head to Zinc for a free wood-fired margherita pizza with any beverage purchase (1221 N. Valley Dr.; 310-546-4995).

Friday, March 22
STK's new happy 8x8 Happy Hour includes $8 bites (burger and truffle fries; tuna tartare cones; warm mushroom crostini; three oysters on the half shell) and specialty drinks (beer and wine are $5 a glass) in the Atrium Bar all night on Sunday through Tuesdays, and from 6-8 PM Wednesdays through Fridays (755 N. La Cienega Blvd.; 310-659-3535)

Saturday, March 23
If you thought Beard Papa's was just bakery (sometimes just a kiosk) for softball-sized cream puffs, think again. The latest outpost to open has reclaimed wood slats on the walls, leather armchairs and even tea and pour-over coffee to go with the pastries. The company considers this the "flagship," so expect more lookalikes to roll out soon (11127 Palms Blvd.; 310-845-9115).

Sunday, March 24
Now that the patio is spruced up, Bludso's Bar & Que, the new barbecue and cocktail joint from the Golden State and Bludso's BBQ guys that just opened on La Brea a few weeks ago, officially serves lunch on Sundays. The new hours are noon to 8 PM; regular hours during the week are Tuesday-Saturday, 5-10 PM (609 N. La Brea Ave.; 323-931-2583).
