St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal around Boston. So to get you warmed up, we have two ideas. First, stop in for a classic Irish breakfast at the Ashmont Grill in Dorchester on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17, when the neighborhood American will also serve up two specials throughout the weekend: Smithwick’s batter-fried fish 'n' chips, and corned beef and cabbage (617-825-4300).
Second, check out The Fireplace’s Fireside Chat on Saturday, March 16, when the New England restaurant in Brookline will be pouring three to four tastings of Irish whisky and giving a preview of Irish nibbles (3-4:15 PM; $25 per person; 617-975-1900).
